This post is in response to comments regarding teeenage mothers (in the sad post about the terrible terrible thing that happened to the baby in Norton):
I'm not saying the mother in that case didn't have some responsibility in this. I just want people to realize that just because a girl is a teenage mother does not make her irresponsible, stupid, or incapable of taking care of a child. My mother was 15 when she gave birth to me (She was married at 14, Dad was 19 and they are still married 25 years later by the way) She is and always has been a wonderful mother. I was NEVER neglected. I was (and still am when I need it) taken care of impecably. Please do not stereotype all teenage mothers by the irresponsibility of one or some. Teenagers are mothers all over the world and many of them are excellent providers and role models.

couldn't have said it better myself
Deja Moo: The feeling that you've heard this bull before.
Of course it would be my preference for any child of mine to be out of their teens, through school and self sufficient before starting a family.
However, in agreeance with PVLady, there are good teenage mothers (just as there are bad 30-year old mothers). Remember the 'tossed baby' case from earlier this week? That woman was 38 years old.
We don't know anything about the young mother in the Norton case, so it would be best to not judge.
You'll shoot your eye out.

I'll second that

Not applauding teen sex at all. Not for premarital sex. But nobody is perfect. i agree withelp6n and PVLady.

I hope you don't take my comments wrong. It just really upsets me to see a child harmed. I guess it goes back to actaully interferring with a child being smacked a yr or so back at Wal-Mart.
Come to find out the child was being abused. Those involved here were well into their mid 20's. I just cannot stand to see a child abused in any way.
Scolding and maybe spanking as needed and done correctly. But to see a kid smacked for just being a kid? No. I can't tolerate that.
This woman with the child she may not of known. And im not really blaming her. Just asking where was she? A child with broken arms? That will induce severe pain on anyone a child or adult.
It just seems our society has lost touch. We have to many children raising children. And honestly to many immature adults.
Well, the girl was 15 and her baby was 20 months old....which makes her just barely turning 13 when she conceived. Granted, there are mature 15 year olds, but it's also a given that since you were born, it's a different age we live in...where teens are having sex at a much earlier age and all that. I've got a 13 year old son and I just had "the talk" with he and his brother not too long ago. You probably turned out all right because you had a responsible family.....guarantee this girl did not have that privelege.
I was actually responding to PvLady.
